We're starting to wonder why we hear more about Iraq than about Mexico, which is, you know, just across the U.S. border.

On Saturday, 14 people were murdered in or near Monterrey. Try finding a U.S. news report about it.

<="http://www.borderlandbeat.com/2013/02/12-die-in-monterrey-and-nuevo-leon.html">Borderland Beat, a blog reporting on the Mexican cartel drug war, does have the story:
...six men in their 20s were gunned down by armed suspects travelling aboard two vehicles in Nieto Garza colony...
A second incident took place at around 1850 hrs Saturday evening ... where two unidentified men were shot to death and two others were wounded in a garage at a residence.
Seven other individuals were killed or were found dead in or near Monterrey.
The drug war has killed an estimated 60,000 people over the past six years. So maybe it isn't a good idea to open the border to dangerous Mexican trucks.

The good news (which you also aren't reading in the U.S. media) is that the U.S. Transportation Department's pilot program opening the border is <="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2012/12/teamsters-in-court-tomorrow-fighting.html">still a dismal failure.
